Payment Structure of Nannies in the Atlanta Metro Area

Full-time employment opportunities as a nanny A nanny is a person who looks after the child or children of other people. Atlanta jobs available for nannies can vary, as can the payment structure for such services. Nanny jobs in Atlanta can be both, full-time or part-time. A live-in nanny is the one who lives with the children whom they are providing the care for, can expect a wage of $400-$700 per week. This would be an example of a full time job in Atlanta.

The payment structure of these full time Atlanta careers is dependant upon the nanny's education or experience. The more experience or education a nanny has, the higher the pay structure, which is not different from any other healthcare job, customer service job, or sales job available in Atlanta, Georgia. Full time Atlanta nanny jobs are also available for those just willing to watch the child or children when a guardian is away and not live-in. The payment structure for this situation would be similar to the live-in where experience and education is taken into consideration.

Part-time employment opportunities as a nanny
Those seeking part-time Atlanta employment as a nanny generally do not live with the household, but watch the children while the parents or guardian are away for one reason or another. This part time job in Atlanta, Georgia generally pays in the neighborhood approximately $12-20 per hour, with a minimum number of hours agreed upon in advance. Just like the full time nanny position, the more experience or education one possesses, the higher the pay structure would be. Many nannies prefer the part time position for an Atlanta career, because it allows them to have a home life outside of their employer and devote fewer hours to their job.

Compensation packages
As with most full time positions, compensation packages are often considered as part of the payment structure of a nanny. Receiving sick leave, paid vacation, and health insurance are just a few of the benefits many full time Atlanta nannies receive. A nanny position, like many other Atlanta careers, is a highly regarded and respected profession. Many Atlanta accounting jobs benefit from employers using them to calculate their nanny's payroll taxes and health insurance.
Some Atlanta accounting firms are geared towards figuring and filing only domestic help taxes and insurance.

Nannies are subject to overtime pay, which is anything over 40 hours per week, in order to comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act. The legal minimum for overtime pay is 1.5 times the hourly rate of the nanny. Many Atlanta, Georgia nannies will expect more than that, especially if their experience, education, and references deem them qualified for more. That is generally between the employer and the nanny. Many others will expect paid vacations, away from the family, and sick leave pay. Once again, this is an agreement that should be figured out and agreed upon before the nanny begins employment with the family.

Annual raises and performance reviews
A good nanny will fast become part of the family's/employer's home. It is with this in mind that a nanny's performance should be reviewed at least once a year so that a wage increase can be considered. If a nanny has found an appropriate fit in a family, then the employer should strive to make the nanny happy and retain his/her employment. Additions to their paid vacation and compensation packages may even be considered at this time. Nannies take care of the employer's most treasured commodity, more than any other Atlanta Georgia career. Once that is learned, keeping the nanny will become a priority.
